Created for his glory :  Isaiah 43: 7,….even every one that is called by my name, for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him, yea, I have made him….

Just because we do not always reflect the glory of God in all that we do, does not mean that we were not created for his glory.

In Times Like These :  2 Timothy 3: 1 – 7,….this know also that in the last days perilous times shall come….men shall be lovers of their own selves….having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof….never able to come to the knowledge of truth….

The inspirational thought this week is taken from the song, In Times Like These. In times like these you need a savior, in times like these you need a bible, be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the solid rock.

This Truth of Ours :  1 Corinthians 8: 9,….take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those that are weak….

Just because we as believers feel that our actions are not immoral does not mean that we should go ahead and participate in them without any thought of what effect that it might have on those with less spiritual understanding.

Are We Rooted and Grounded in Christ:  Ephesians 3: 17 – 19,….that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God….

Salvation is more than just an occasional prayer, more than just reading the word of God occasionally, more than just going to church occasionally, salvation is the beginning of an intimate relationship of our fellowship in Christ, and it begins with our obedience to his word. Our knowledge must not be rooted and grounded in our own opinion, but rather in God’s word, which was established from the beginning.

Are we what Christ wants us to be.:  1 Corinthians 15: 10,….but by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain….

In our life in Christ, we are not just chosen by God but by Gods grace we have become qualified to be one of his chosen. We did not work for our salvation but because of our salvation we do the work of the Lord. We do not boast in what we do for Christ but rather in what Christ has done in us. Therefore, we can truly say that by the grace of God I am what I am.

Why Worry:  Matthew 6: 25,….therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body more than rainment….

Worrying has a detrimental effect on the believer’s fellowship with God. In worry we talk to ourselves, in prayer we talk to God. In worry we focus on the circumstances of life, but in prayer we focus on the heavenly Father. Worry is self- centered and selfish, rooted in sinfulness and unbelief. Prayer, is centered on God, trusting in his word, and depending upon him for all our needs. Therefore, as faith increases, worry is eliminated. True prayer comes from a heart full of thanksgiving, looking to the Lord and trusting in him for all things.

Comfort in Christ: 2 Corinthians 1: 3 – 4,….blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God….

When the burdens of the world begin to overwhelm us, when trials and tribulations seem to be too much to bear, when everything seems to be against us, God longs to comfort us with his mercy, his grace, and his love.

Our Opportunity to be free: John 3: 16,….for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life….

Christ first coming to earth was to offer humanity, from eternity to eternity, an opportunity to be freed from the curse of sin and death, by way of the cross, crucifixion, and resurrection, so that mankind might have the ability to live their life in the hope of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, to the eternal righteousness and glory of God.

The Holy Spirit of Truth: John 16: 13,….howbeit when he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth….and he will shew you things to come….

The greatest gift that we have as believers is the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit, who empowers us, and comforts us, teaches and guides us in the truth of all things, so that we may grow in grace, and learn to love others, just as God through Christ has loved us.

Our Spiritual Presentation: Romans 12: 1,….I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service….

The word of God teaches the believer in Christ to practically apply the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of our saving grace to the entirety of our life, here on earth. When we learn that there is nothing that we can do to repay God, then will we strive earnestly to offer ourselves to him, in love, by presenting ourselves, daily, in humble recognition, holy and pleasing to the Lord.

Christ lives within me: 2 Corinthians 4: 7,….we have this treasure in earthen vessels….

We ask ourselves what do we value most? Is it to see the glory of God, which is Christ, and to be given the opportunity to share in that glory forever? God has chosen to keep this valuable treasure in a place that is fragile, and vulnerable, because he wants mankind to see its limitless power and glory, by portraying it through that which is limited, and humble, and common to man. Now we learn that it is not for us to proclaim ourselves as something special, but to proclaim Christ as Lord, with ourselves being merely servants for Christ’s sake. This is Christ living in me.

How do we see other people?  2 Corinthians 5: 14 – 16,….the love of Christ constraineth us….that if one died for all….and that he died….that they which should live should not….live unto themselves….wherefore….know we no man after the flesh….though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more….

As believers, we should no longer see people through our eyes of the flesh. As Christians, we should see all humanity as souls in need of redemption, which is Gods saving grace. Our love for God should compel us to share the gospel, which is, that Christ died for all. Our assessment of others must be based upon the crucified, resurrected, glorified Lord, the one who gave his life, so that all might live.

Listening to what we say:  Luke 6: 45,….a good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good….an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil….for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh….

It is our words that reveal that which is in the heart. The things that we say, and the manner in which we say them discloses the attitude of our hearts. Not often do we consider this, for if we did, we would be more careful, considering the things that we say, and how that we say them. Therefore, it is the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks. Becoming honest with ourselves begins with looking at the sinfulness in our own life before pointing out to others what we believe to be the sinfulness in their lives. In order to see the sin in our lives, we must not look at our actions or behavior, for man is able to justify his actions, and give excuses for his behavior. If we really want an honest glimpse of our own heart, we must listen to our own words. Have we ever taken the time to listen to what comes out of our mouth? Our words reveal the contents of our heart.

A Truly Wise Person: 1 Peter 3: 15,….sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear….

A truly wise person will show humility through the wisdom of his good works and good conversation. There is a significant difference between true wisdom, which is godly wisdom given from above, and false wisdom which comes from the world. True wisdom is not how much knowledge a man acquires, but how he conducts himself with the wisdom that God has given unto him. Boasting and deceitfulness come through worldly wisdom, which is not from above. Our heavenly conversation will be one of sincerity and truth.

A Time to Speak:  Ecclesiastes 3: 1, 7,….to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven….a time to keep silence, and a time to speak….

Can we control the words that come out of our mouth? The answer would be, not of our own power. Therefore, it is not impossible to control our words, but it is extremely difficult. Our words and how that we use them can either build one up or tear many down. The quality and contents of our speech reveals how much we have allowed godly wisdom to mature within us. Our Christian maturity is evident in how that we speak to others, and also in how that we talk about others. Wisdom is required when it comes to our speech, and God will give wisdom to those who choose to speak wisely. The question we should ask ourselves before allowing our words to be directed towards others is this, is that which I am about say, truthful, compassionate, and profitable to the well-being of others, is it necessary, and is it of Gods will and timing.

Godly Treasure:  Jeremiah 29: 13,….you will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart….

The greatest treasure in our life is the treasure of seeking the Lord which comes with the promise that if we seek him, we will find him. This is when we come to know that the same God who created us, and has given unto us life, is the one that we can trust with our life. In the world we often time seek fulfillment to find life, but in seeking God we will fulfill our life.

God is Faithful: 1 Corinthians 10: 13,….there hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted  above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it….

God does not say that he will feel sorry for us, or pamper us, but that he will strengthen us, and enable us, to standfast through all temptations, deceptions, trials and tribulations that we go through.

Christian Fellowship: Hebrews 10: 23,….let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering….let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works….

What is the importance of Christian fellowship? Most Christians believe that Christian fellowship is showing up occasionally and worshipping with one another in a church setting. If this was the case, then there is not very much fellowship going on. For most Christians this is only two or three hours a week. Christian fellowship is a beneficial relationship between the believers in the body of Christ, and it is enabled by the grace of God. To have complete unity with Christ and the Father, we must have complete unity with one another. Christian fellowship reinforces our spiritual mindset as we help one another to focus on Christ and his desires, and his eternal plan in our lives.

The Abundance of Christ:  2 Corinthians 9: 8,….and God is able to make all grace abound toward you , that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work….

The more that we trust in the Lord, the less we trust in our own self-righteousness. An abundance of Christ means less influence from the world.

Keeping Our Thoughts Pure:  Psalm 51: 10,….create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me….

Keeping our emotions pure is very important in determining the course of our life. This is because it is our emotions that control our thoughts, and our thoughts run our life. We have been equipped, by God, with emotions, to glorify God, and to enrich our lives. Therefore, we should never give our emotions free reign to rule in our lives and influence our decisions, but we should always use our emotions in connection with God, so that we may experience a full and abundant life in service to him.

Our Emotion State of Mind:  Proverbs 4: 23,….keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life….

How great is the influence of our emotions on our life? Our emotions have a very strong influence on our daily lives. Emotions are reactions that we experience in response to different situations in our life. We make decisions based upon the type of emotion that we are experiencing. As believers, we should be influenced by our godly emotions, but due to the sinful nature that we were born into, often time it is worldly emotions that influence our ability to make decisions. This means that the type of emotion that we experience is going to be based upon the circumstance that is taking place in our life. Therefore, most people, are slaves to their emotions. If we are obedient to God, he will give unto us strength and power over our emotions. Our emotions can be good and helpful when we are in charge of them. As Christians, we must strive, fervently, to keep our emotions pure. Our decisions, our actions, our reactions, the way that we feel, and the way that we think, if our emotions are pure then everything that originates in our life will be pure.

Having An Abundance of Christ:  1 Peter 5: 7,….casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you….

The more that we trust in the Lord, the less we trust in our own self-righteousness. An abundance of Christ means less influence from the world.

8.18.2022

Examine Me, O Lord:  Psalm 26: 2,….examine me, O Lord, and prove me, try my reins and my heart….

If our desires are focused on the Lord, if our heart is centered on God, if our hope is in him alone, it is then that we ask the Lord to examine our character and emotions to assess our actions and attitudes. When we turn to our godly emotions instead of living in our worldly emotions then will we be convinced to walk in his righteousness and claim the promises of our salvation.

The Issues of Life:  Proverbs 4: 23,….keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life….

Our emotions have a very strong influence on our daily lives. Emotions are reactions that we experience in response to different situations in our life.
